Child Development Associate (National CDA)

Preparation for the Child Development Associate National Credential Assessment includes 120 hours of instruction in infant and toddler best practices as described by the Council of Professional Recognition. Participants will be completing a Professional Resource File, which includes writing the CDA competency standards and collecting resource items and preparing for the CDA assessment process.

Objectives of the Course

  • Acquire knowledge and implement developmentally appropriate practices based on the Six Competency Standards.
  • Develop a Professional Portfolio, Resource File and the Professional Philosophy Statement according to the criteria set forth by the National Council for Professional Recognition.
  • Be assessed through Verification Visit at the completion of the Professional Portfolio.
  • Schedule the CDA Exam with Pearson Vue.

Attendance

Students are expected to attend every class. More than 2 absences will result in an unsatisfactory grade and the student will have to repeat the course and pay for the course out of pocket. Students will be allowed two absences without penalty. The instructor will assign an unsatisfactory grade for any student that misses more than two class session.
