Reflective Supervision for Supervisors

**This training is designed for staff in a Supervisor position ONLY **

Reflective Supervision is about bringing an overall environment for continuous learning about one’s professional self in relation to the work with children, families and colleagues. The concept of reflective supervision is to enhance professional growth in staff.

The goal of this training is to learn how to respond effectively to the complex emotions which this work evokes in order to best support the parent-child relationship. The training will address the challenges of providing sufficient intensity of learning opportunities necessary for successful implementation of this concept, and the eight elements that must be present in the relation between supervisor and supervisee.

Coaching with Powerful Interactions
Monday, September 16, 9:00 AM

During this three day workshop, participants will explore ways to use a Powerful Interactions coaching stance to foster Powerful Interactions among adults that in turn lead to Powerful Interactions between teachers, children, and families. When coaches interact in ways that allow teachers to feel supported and appreciated, they are more open to change and growth. 

A Powerful Interactions coach:

  • Observes for and highlights teachers’ competence

  • Uses observations and articulation to promote intentionality

  • Values individualizing to develop trusting relationships

  • Promotes a mutual learning partnership

  • Supports teachers by modeling what to say and do and how

This training will be led by Jonathan Fribley. Jonathan supports the growth of early educators and young children as a consultant, coach, mentor and trainer. His work addresses adult-child interactions and relationships, early language and literacy, assessment and children’s thinking.

A positive, strengths-based leadership system is the key to transforming the quality of early childhood programs. This workshop will lay out strategies designed to support program leaders in finding new ways to reduce the levels of stress on themselves and their staff, and move into a unified, engaging system for leading with passion, intention, and purpose.

Grounded in current research, this training will address common dilemmas:

  • How do I motivate and inspire teachers?
  • How can I be the most effective in observing and giving nonjudgmental feedback?
  • How can I be more confident in my role as a leader?
  • How can I manage my time more effectively?

Educare Best Practices: Data Utilization

The “Data Basics” training will build an awareness of data terminology and examine the purpose of data use in early childhood settings. Participants can apply the lessons from the training to their daily work, no matter what type or quantity of data their programs have. This training will support early childhood programs and providers in cultivating a climate and infrastructure of data utilization for continuous quality improvement.

This training builds on an awareness of data terminology and examines data use in early childhood settings. It explores how to distinguish between multiple levels, purposes and sources of data and analyze the differences to make informed decisions.
